Loyalist Gymnastics Club is excited to announce some changes to our recreation skills, programming, and development!
To align with the Canadian Long term development model, LGC will transition to a skill-based advancement program. Our athletes will be required to complete certain prescribed skills in order to graduate to the next level in their pathway. There will only be 3 levels, so your athlete will be working on similar skills to all the athletes in their group—but will we still maintain our age division. J1, J2, J3 are Junior aged (6-9), while S1, S2, S3 are Senior aged (9-12). Similar to safety standards assigned to swimming lessons, our athletes must meet certain criteria in order to advance--for example, a round-off back handspring is a level three skill,so, in levels one through three we will have specific progressions and conditioning programming embedded into each session to ensure all athletes progress safely, and with confidence. Advancement in levels is not a guarantee based on age, or time spent at a level, all progressions will be evaluated on accomplishment and mastery of specifically assigned skill sets. We look forward to challenging our athletes and setting these short- term goals as the progress through the new LGC system!
